I reinvented the traditional lens cap to solve a problem every photographer knows: constantly removing, replacing, and losing lens caps. The Shutter Cap stays attached to your lens at all times. With a simple twist, the five-blade shutter opens when you’re ready to shoot and closes again to keep your lens protected.

As a photographer, I found myself constantly missing moments because I was taking off my lens cap or searching for where I’d put it. I wanted something that would always be there, always protect my lens, and always be ready when I was.

The Shutter Cap uses a five-blade shutter mechanism inspired by camera apertures. Simply twist the outer ring to open the blades for shooting and close it again when you’re finished. There’s nothing to remove, store, or keep track of.

Traditional lens caps have one job: protect your lens. But they also slow you down, get misplaced, or end up hanging awkwardly from a strap. I designed the Shutter Cap to eliminate those frustrations while still giving your lens the protection it needs.

The Shutter Cap is available in a range of filter thread sizes to fit most camera lenses. Simply choose the size that matches the filter thread marked on the front of your lens or your current lens cap.

Yes, but only certain ones. The Shutter Cap can be used with filters that have a front filter thread and don’t rotate during use, such as most fixed ND filters or UV filters. Filters with rotating front elements, like circular polarisers and variable ND filters, aren’t compatible because the Shutter Cap needs a stationary thread to operate properly.

Not at all. When the shutter is fully open, the blades sit completely outside the optical path, so they won’t affect your images.

The Shutter Cap is designed to protect your lens from scratches, smudges, dust, and the knocks that come with everyday photography. While it adds an extra layer of protection, no lens cap can guarantee protection against every drop.

The Shutter Cap helps keep dust and debris away from your lens, but it isn’t designed to be waterproof or weather sealed.

Absolutely. I designed the mechanism for everyday use and thousands of opening and closing cycles. Like any precision mechanism, they’ll last longest if they’re treated with good care.

Yes, and it’s one of my favourite parts. Opening and closing the shutter produces a mechanical click that’s incredibly satisfying.
